for a 1999 Q45. It’s probably a pathfinder part, like most wear items are on this boat. But I can’t find it anywhere. Even the just the specs would be awesome, then I could order a generic one.
Edit: G body man saved the day. Apparently, u joints don’t come out of these driveshafts. I already have the center support bearing so we’ll see if that’s the issue.

Is that one?!?

Q45s have staked-in U-joints, so you have to replace the entire driveshaft.

and I just found that it would be DORMAN 936502 on rock auto.

There seem to be a lot of complete driveshafts for the ‘99 Q45 on Ebay for $85-$400 with a lot around $150. If you find one that’s in good shape wear-wize, that could be a last resort.

Huh... unfortunate. It’d better be the center support bearing then, which I already have. Thanks though! That explains why they were impossible to find. I would have been running around like an idiot trying to find one

nope lol just looked at that. thx tho!

Yeah, I ran the SKF and Moog catalogs and found nothing.

Yeah I did notice that, which G body man stepped in to explain - apparently you can’t replace these u joints. Gotta make an edit

As someone else commented, at least replacements are well under $500? Though I have the center support bearing already, hopefully replacing that will be the solution to my wobbles.

Have you taken it to a driveline shop?

Never heard of staked-in joints... *googles*
Well, ain’t that some shit.
Nice to see Google bringing up results on how to change them anyway.

Is the U-joint removable?
Looking at the Infiniti parts catalog, I see the whole driveshaft (3700), and a bearing kit (37521K).
Otherwise RockAuto lists a Dorman replacement driveshaft with a replaceable U-joint.

I’m in SF, I can for sure find you a joint man.

nope but I’d bet money on the center support bearing being the issue, I have classic throttle modulated driveshaft wobbles. It’s either the bearing (really more like a massive bushing) or I’m gonna have to look at shafts on the internet. (whoops innuendo LOL)

I just googled too - DAMN that looks scary. Changing it would be deep into the fanatical side of cheapness haha

lol yep like I mentioned earlier, I have that already :p it’s in my parts pile. Thanks though! That’s exactly where I got it from

AWESOME I will save that rock auto link if it comes to that, I trust them over an ebay seller anyday. It looks like they aren’t removable

Could be worth it if you’re careful, though. But time would still be an issue, I think. I can’t find a direct fit for Infiniti, even on Rockford’s site . Looks like you’d still have to pull the shaft and take some measurements before ordering parts. Maybe call some local shops and see if they do driveshaft rebuilds?

I would love that xD

I did some checking, but all I could find was this:

The thing is, it isn’t even an issue unless I’m driving really fast. So it’s been on the backburner until now. I’m not worried though, my friends and I don’t mess around - transmisson swaps, head gasket jobs, etc. so if it comes to it, I’ll just buy a brand new driveshaft. $500 for silky smooth triple digit speeds sounds cheap

I can’t do it though, it made me paranoid in college. I don’t mainly because I’m a rigger for shows, I hang big things above people and if anything happens nobody can prove when you smoked it, they always test and then would say I was stoned and I couldn’t prove I wasn’t.

That makes a lot of sense! Always better to be safe than sorry. Especially if sorry = fired, sued, and thrown in jail for a tube amp murder

I hate non-servicable parts.
It was part of the reason why I was happy to see our 2008 Ford Edge left behind at a dealership. U-joint was squeaking and it was a $950 part at the dealership, and it was not the only problem. (had a random battery drain that would empty the battery in 8 hours but would only happen maybe twice a month in the winter).

I wasn’t serious lol. But on that subject, back in college, there was this couple who would sit in the dining commons together - not eating mind you - and suck on each other’s fists just like that. NBD
